The terminal or top of your chimney is a very important part of the whole system. Sometimes it is necessary to fit a guard or cowl if the chimney suffers from downdraught or draw problems. A cowl is an anti-downdraught device, which can be used to reduce wind blowing straight down the chimney or to prevent birds or rain entering. We are able to supply and fit a variety of chimney pots, caps and cowls to suit various requirements.

A cowl is a usually hood-shaped covering used to increase the draft of a chimney and prevent backflow. The cowl, usually made of galvanized iron, is fitted to the chimney pot to prevent wind blowing the smoke back down into the room below. Another secondary function is to prevent birds from nesting in the chimney. They often also act as a rain guard to keep rain from going down the chimney.
